True Love or Cheap Copy?

Valentine's Day Turns our toughts to love.Valentine’s Day turns our thoughts to love.

Whether or not you are a romantic, it is important to recognize what true love is. Is your relationship based on love, or on something else entirely?

Love is….    Focused Outwardly. Love always thinks of the other person and tries to do what’s best for him or her. Love is not selfish, it is selfless.  If you are in a relationship where your partner thinks only about himself/herself and his/her needs, you should question if love is there.

Love is…     Action. It is much more than an emotion or feelings of excitement.  Feelings come and go, but we can choose to show our love by our actions, no matter how we feel. True love is making a choice to love even when you don’t feel like it. If you are in a relationship where the words “I love you” are said, but the actions don’t match, you should question if love is there.

Love is …    Uplifting. A loving person is encouraging, uplifting, and supportive, and will see the good in his or her partner. Their words will build each other up, not tear them down. If you are in a relationship where words are used to hurt or to belittle, you should question if love is there.

Carefully think about what love should be in your relationship. Many people become blinded to what love should look like because they rarely see true love in action around them.  Is that true with you?
